Yes, there are axioms to success in any kind of business, whether you own the product/service, are an affiliate to a business or working with a multi-level-marketing company.
In all cases, DO:
1. Move towards becoming independent. Yes, follow leaders and learn from them, but afterwords, you should aim to become that leader yourself.
2. Be tenacious in growing your talents. Put your money, not just towards advertising, but also toward training. Learn marketing techniques, yes, put your attention on Self-development.
3. Do the research. Make sure that the business you've found has the ability to make the type of income you want. What's your main audience? Are they spending money on what you've got to offer.
4. Focus daily on income-producing activities. Reading mails may be a part of the work, but marketing is vital.
5. Concentrate on 2 or 3 marketing systems that you like and are goo at. For example, video marketing, article marketing, PPC, Email marketing. Learn all you are able to and become the expert in one before you move on to others.
6. People buy from individuals that they know like and trust. Become that person.
7. Ask yourself this question. Why are you doing this? Need is fundamental to success. Dig deep. Making more cash won't be the answer.
8. Set achievable goals, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and every year. Hint: You might begin with the day. Look at 4 again.
9. Just DO IT.
NO NOT:
1. Expect somebody else to do the work for you.
2. Spend time with negative people. Your income will be the average of those people you spend the most time with.
3. Waste your time on "uncoachable" individuals.
4. Stop sponsoring if you are an affiliate or in an MLM, nor stop improving on your goods if you are the owner.
5. Stop helping people.
6. Stop believing in yourself, you can do it.
7. Use words like, try, maybe, should, but & might.
