The Subtle Art Of Corporate Gift Giving

Giving personal gifts is several shades different from giving gifts with corporate gift giving. We have a tendency to think that it is the thought that matters when we purchase gifts intended for people with whom we are in close contact with. Usually, we scrimp on the amount we are willing to spend while at the same time take the effort to ensure that what we are getting is something that the recipient would be pleased to have. In corporate gift giving, however, low-priced keepsakes will always be detected, and may insult the sensitivities of the recipient. Corporate gift giving is an art that has to be perfected for it to do contribute success to our business.

Corporate gifts are mostly valuable products, and they are often gifted without any symbol of the company on the gift, as they are not for advertising. However, at times corporations also give employees and prospects promotional items such as USB drives, mouse-pads, key-chains and office utility items that are marked with the business logo.

At the time of giving a corporate gift, it is important to keep in consideration the interests of the person to whom the gift is being presented, and to tailor it accordingly. For a client, exotic and costly objects are the norm, while standardised corporate gifts should be given to members of a particular team of employees.

In order to strengthen and promote a healthy association with a client or an employee of the organization, it is essential to remember that the perceived value of the corporate gift is critical. However, gifting is at times regulated by the law, so a confirmation with your legal department is recommended.

Before purchasing corporate gifts you should prepare a budget, find out the number of gifts to be given, and look for good offers for a bulk purchase from the wholesalers. The preparation is more important with respect to employee gifts, even more so if your company is a mid-sized or large entity. You should buy the correct number of gifts so that no employee whom you plan to appreciate is missed out.

To cap everything off, let it be said that everyone would be pleased to receive gifts, no matter what the situation is. Corporate gift giving is a good stepping stone for maintaining the relationship your business has with your client. If selected wisely and given strategically, a gift presented to the recipient by the corporation could cement the recipient's loyalty to your business.
