Facts About Capture Pages

It's hard to find anyone who doesn't understand the importance of effective advertising through the Web. However, it is hard to find people who actually understand how to effectively advertise themselves or their businesses online. One of the key parts of any online marketing campaign should involve the creation of a capture page that is designed to promote your business. However, with the prevalence of replicated pages, many people are becoming confused about whether custom capture pages or replicated pages are the better marketing choice.

Custom capture pages are pages that are not actually a part of your main website. These pages are usually linked to through online ads, such as those that are found in search engine results, and in emails that your marketing team sends out. Typically, capture pages are used to generate interest in your products and services, while also driving traffic to your main site.

Many people drive potential customers to a capture page, rather than their main site, because they can place very specific and targeted information on the capture site. For example, if you are running a campaign that has been designed to generate interest in several of your products, you could place all of the necessary information on a single page. If you were to send customers to your main site, they would probably have to spend quite some time looking around and searching for that information, which would result in a bad online experience for them.

There are several elements that any capture page should contain in order to be successful. Most importantly, it should contain your company's branding and it needs to look like it is a part of your main website. This does not mean, however, that it needs to contain any of the navigational elements from your main site, like menus or a sitemap. Additionally, the site should contain targeted keywords as well as a link to your main site.

A common practice that many people use in an effort to drive more traffic to their sites and improve their search engine rankings is to replicate their capture pages. These copies are then placed on multiple domains with a variety of keywords attached to each.

Replicating pages is never a good idea. In fact, some search engines are cracking down on these pages, which then leads to a lower ranking for your site in consumer search results. Custom pages, on the other hand, are highly professional and widely accepted by all search engines.

Using a capture page with your email and online ad campaigns is a great idea. Make sure that each page is tailored to each campaign and avoid replicated pages at all costs. Your customers will appreciate your thoughtfulness and that's always good for business.
